How does Acupuncture work to support conception?

It assists the messaging system between the brain and reproductive organs (known as the HPO/HPA axis) to help process stress and regulate cycle signals. 

​

It improves bloodflow to the and ovaries to improve the environment in which follicles develop and to the Uterus to thicken endometrial lining and increase chances for implantation.  It reduces inflammation and creates a healthy environment for your eggs to mature in.

It reduces stress by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering cortisol (which can interfere with ovulation and hormonal regulation) and promoting a state of relaxation.

​When should I come for treatment?

Eggs take around 3 months to mature, so the 90-100 day window before ovulation really is the magic time to start preparing, if possible.  With acupuncture, good nutrition and lifestyle changes, there is lots we can do to improve egg quality and lay the best foundations for a healthy pregnancy.

How do you support Male fertility?

Addressing male health can significantly improve fertility outcomes! 

Male factor infertility contributes to around 40-50% of cases, yet it is often overlooked.

Sperm quality, DNA fragmentation (which studies have shown is linked to increased miscarriage risk and poorer IVF outcomes) and underlying health conditions can all affect conception and early embryo development.

Acupuncture itself can provide support by improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, reducing stress, and supporting hormonal equilibrium.  Research shows it may enhance sperm quality, motility, and count. Regular sessions can also help lower inflammation and oxidative stress, both of which are linked to poor sperm health and fertility outcomes.

You get a thorough 90 minute Initial Consultation, during which you will be given the time and space to be heard, if you have any concerns.

You will be supported on your journey and in advocating for yourself with your GP or clinician, if this is necessary.
